The Berlin Mathematical School (BMS), is a joint graduate school of the mathematics departments of the three major Berlin universities, and is based at the Department of Mathematics at TU Berlin, being funded within the framework of the German „Initiative for Excellence“.
The department is strongly involved in the DFG Research Center Matheon "mathematics for key technologies", an internationally renown Center of Excellence in which nearly 200 scientists pursue application-oriented and theoretical research.
Moreover, the Department is involved in the following programs:

- Collaborative Research Center 649: "Economical risks"
- Collaborative Research Center 910: "Control of self-organizing nonlinear systems"
- Graduate Program 1845: "Stochastic analysis with applications in biology, finance and physics"
- International Research Training Group (IRTG) 1740: "Dynamical Phenomena in Complex Networks: Fundamentals and Applications"
- International Research Training Group (GRK) 1800: "Moduli and Automorphic Forms: Arithmetic and Geometric Aspects"
The Deutsche Telekom Stiftung supports the ProMINT program, which aims at the improvement of teacher training in MINT studies.
