Venue and Arrival

The spring school will take place at the

"Gustav Heinemann Bildungsstätte"
Schweizer Straße 58

23714 Bad Malente

The venue lies directly at Lake Keller in northern Germany. (For a map please click here).

The default procedure is to arrive at Bad Malente on Sunday (March 5) in the late afternoon and to leave on Friday (March 10) after the last lecture (at about 1 pm).

Arrival

By plane:

The nearest international airport is Hamburg. From there, take a local train (S-Bahn) to Hamburg main station. (There is a train every 10 minutes.)

By public transport:

The closest train station (trains operated by Deutsche Bahn) is Bad Malente-Gremsmühlen. From there you can either take a taxi to the Gustav Heinemann Bildungsstätte (which costs about 8 Euro) or, if you prefer some exercise, walk for about 3 km. (Unfortunately the current bus schedule implies that there are no public busses on Sunday afternoon after 2 pm from the train station to the venue. However the official schedule for March is not published by now. As soon as this is the case we will give detailed information about all bus connections on this website.)

We strongly recommend to make a reservation for a taxi (e.g. Fa. Boehnke 04523/2323, Fa. Hagel 04523/3011 or Fa Maerz 04523/7777)

  • From Hamburg:
We recommend to use the regional day ticket for Schleswig Holstein (Schleswig-Holstein ticket) in groups. It costs 28 Euros plu 3 Euros for every further person. (Maximal group size: 5 persons per ticket.)
You can use this spreadsheet to coordinate with others in groups.

There are hourly trains from Hamburg (main station) to Bad Malente-Gremsmühlen via Lübeck (which takes about 1,5 hours) and via Kiel (about 2 hours).
