Richard von Mises-Lecture 2025

Dear colleagues,

on Friday, 13 June 2025, Aad van der Vaart (TU Delft) will deliver the annual von Mises lecture on "The Bernstein-von Mises Theorem". Aad is one of the most prominent mathematical statisticians of our time and has pushed the field of nonparametric Bayesian methods to new frontiers. One of its pillars is the Bernstein-von Mises Theorem and we shall see its implications from a frequentist understanding for Bayesian statistics up to modern uncertainty quantification for PDEs.
This year's Junior von Mises lecture, entitled "Towards Optimal Sensor Placement for Sparse Inverse Problems with Random Noise", is given by Daniel Walter (HU Berlin). For more information see

Participation is free, but registration on the website is mandatory. We are looking forward to seeing many of you at this event.

Best regards,

Markus Reiß & Sven Wang
