Downloadables

The following items can be downloaded or read on the web in PDF format; to read them, you may need to install the Adobe Acrobat Reader (most people already have it).

Homework Assignments

All homework problems are in the textbook unless otherwise noted.

Only the even numbered problems on each assignment will be graded. The odd numbered problems are intended as extra practice and you are strongly encouraged to do them, but you will not be penalized if you don't hand them in.

General Information

Instructor:Chris Wendl
Office:720 Warren Weaver Hall (Courant Institute Building)
Phone:212-998-3216
E-mail:wendlc@cims.nyu.edu
Office hours:Monday 4-5PM and Wednesday 12-1PM. If you're not available for office hours but need help, feel free to contact me (the easiest way is by e-mail) and make an appointment. You may also stop by my office anytime, but be aware that I'm often not there; it's best to call ahead.
Lectures:Monday and Wednesday 2-3:50PM in 710 Main
Text:Calculus (early transcendentals), Fourth Edition, by James Stewart (Brooks/Cole 1999); available in NYU bookstore
Homework:Problems will be assigned and collected in class on Wednesdays; you'll have a week for each assignment. We will generally set aside the second half of each Wednesday lecture to review homework. Late homework will be accepted up to a week after the due date, but only for half credit. This is not meant as a punitive measure, but rather as an incentive: it's very important to keep up with the homework in this class.
Grading:Homework and Quizzes (40%)
Two Midterms (15% each)
Final Exam (30%)
Web page:See http://www.math.nyu.edu/~wendlc/calc2 for general information and periodic announcements about the class, including homework and exams.
