Spring School "Structural Inference" 2018 and Closing Workshop

The annual spring school of the DFG research unit FOR 1735 "Structural Inference in Statistics" is organized in Lübbenau, in the Spreewald (near Berlin). The spring school is followed by the closing workshop of the research Unit.

 

Dates: 

  • Arrival: Sunday afternoon, March 4
  • Spring school: Monday morning, March 5, until Thursday noon, March 8
  • Closing workshop: Thursday afternoon, March 8, until Friday afternoon, March 9

 

Lecturers spring school:

  • Alexandre Belloni (Duke University): Inference with Many Approximate Means and its Applications 
  • Sébastien Bubeck (Microsoft Research, Redmond): Bandit Convex Optimization
  • Vladimir Koltchinskii (Georgia Tech): Asymptotic Efficiency in High-Dimensional Covariance Estimation

 

Invited speakers closing workshop: Pierre Bellec (Rutgers University), Friedrich Götze (Universität Bielefeld), Stanislav Minsker (USC), Etienne Roquain (Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris), Johannes Schmidt-Hieber (Universiteit Leiden), Ingrid Van Keilegom (KU Leuven)

 

Target audience: Ph.D. students and postdocs working in mathematical statistics, machine learning or related areas.

 

Participation: The research unit will finance the stay of a limited number of young researchers for the spring school. The application deadline is December, 10, 2017. Click here for details.
