Every employee and every student enrolled at the department of mathematics of the Humboldt University is entitled to a user account for the department's computers.

You can request your acccount online . With your signature, you acknowledge the terms of use.

Important information about your account

Validity

With your account, you can login at any computer running Linux at the department of mathematics. You will have access to all your personal data, as it is not be stored locally on each computer, but centrally on our server.

Disk Quota

Storage space is generally limited to 2 GB and 65,000 files. You may exceed this quota by 1 GB and 30,000 files for 7 days. If you have not gone below your normal quota after that, you will not be able to create any new files or change old ones. This means that you will not be able to use the graphical login (KDE)!

Should it come to this, please login via console or SSH. To log in via console, please press Ctrl-Alt-F1 to change to the text console and log in with your usual credentials.

You can now use rm to delete files.

The command du -ks ~ shows you the grand total of files in your home directory. To see your quote, type in mathquota.

If you have a well-reasoned need for more space, please send us an email.
