JUNIOR RICHARD VON MISES LECTURE

The sections of Applied Mathematics and Stochastics invite applications for the

JUNIOR RICHARD VON MISES LECTURE  at June 13th, 2025,

which will accompany the established Richard von Mises Lecture at the
mathematical institute of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, this year

       being delivered by

Aad van der Vaart (mathematical statistics: high-dimensional, non-parametric, Bayesian),
https://diamhomes.ewi.tudelft.nl/~avandervaart/

Both lectures are to be held in Adlershof for a wide mathematical audience from Berlin,
being incorporated within the format of the Math+/BMS Fridays talks:
https://www.math-berlin.de/events/friday-colloquia

The Junior von Mises Lecture of 45min is to present results
by a junior researcher in applied mathematics, probability theory or statistics,
in a wide sense in spirit of Richard von Mises, who has contributed
fundamentally to these areas and was professor at the University of Berlin 1920-33.

Applications for the Junior Richard von Mises Lecture 2024 are invited
from promising junior researchers (postdoc, junior faculty, advanced PhD)
being affiliated to the mathematics institute of the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin;
selection will be made by a committee of professors from the
sections Applied Mathematics and Stochastics.
It is welcome that the Junior Lecture covers a research area complementary to the Richard von Mises lecture.

To apply, please email an (possibly extended) abstract with references to your related papers,
including the relation to Richard von Mises, and a brief CV

        by May 7th to mises-lecture@hu-berlin.de

For questions, Barbara Zwicknagl and Dirk Becherer are available.
