May 6, 2013 Mr. Joscha Gedicke Institute for Mathematics Humboldt University of Berlin Berlin, Germany Dear Mr. Gedicke, On behalf of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM), it is my pleasure to inform you that your paper, "An Adaptive Finite Element Eigenvalue Solver of Asymptotic Quasi-Optimal Computational Complexity," co-authored with your advisor Professor Carsten Carstensen, has been selected as one of the winners of the 2013 SIAM Student Paper Competition. The SIAM Student Paper Prize will be awarded during the course of the 2013 SIAM Annual Meeting (AN13), to be held July 8-12, 2013, at the Town and Country Resort & Convention Center in San Diego, California. AN13 will be held jointly with the SIAM Conference on Control and Its Applications (CT13), which will run July 8-10. The two other winners of the 2013 Student Paper Prize are Keiichi Morikuni of The Graduate University of Advanced Studies (Sokendai), Japan, and Vladislav Voroninski of University of California-Berkeley, USA. Members of the selection committee are Kelly Black, Sigal Gottlieb, and Reza Malek-Madani. Peter Turner, SIAM Vice President for Education, chairs the committee. You are cordially invited to attend the Prizes and Awards Luncheon, to be held on Tuesday, July 9, from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Golden Ballroom at the Town and Country Resort & Convention Center. You are requested to present your winning paper in the SIAM Student Paper Prize Winners Presentations session on Wednesday, July 10, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Royal Palm 1. ...
