  • The Algebraic Geometry Group at Humboldt University

  • The Humboldt Algebraic Geometry Seminar meets every Wednesday between 3:00-4:30 pm in Rudower Chaussee 25, Raum 3.006 (Haus 3, Erdgeschoss). Talks are expected to run for 90 minutes.

  • Moduli: A conference at the Humboldt University in Berlin (August 21- 28, 2009).

  • Complex Algebraic Geometry: A workshop on the occasion of Herbert Kurke's 70th birthday ( 9-10 October 2009).

  • Moduli spaces in algebraic geometry (10-16 January 2010). A new algebraic geometry workshop at Oberwolfach, co-organized with D. Abramovich (Brown) and S. Kebekus (Freiburg).

    Research/Forschungsgebiet

    My field of work is algebraic geometry. A significant part of my research is concerned with the study of the geometry and topology of various moduli spaces. Among other things I am interested in moduli of curves, enumerative geometry and Gromov-Witten theory, vector bundles on curves, abelian varieties and theta functions, Prym varieties, K3 surfaces, Brill-Noether type problems and syzygies of algebraic varieties.
    My research is integrated in the DFG Sonderforschungsbereich 647 Space-Time-Matter. Geometric and Analytic Structures . In this SFB, I am the leader of the Project A9 "Enumerative geometry of moduli spaces". I am a member of the Graduiertenkolleg Arithmetic and Geometry (Berlin-Zürich), as well as a faculty member of the Berlin Mathematical School. I have recently completed an Alfred P. Sloan Research Fellowship. Until 2007 I was Associate Professor at the University of Texas at Austin.
